Can’t Catch A Break

Here is a little update on what has been going with me, Last Monday, June 4th
I ended up back at Froedtert hospital after having a gran mal seizure at home. This one was pretty scary. I turned blue, threw up, and went into full contractions. My mother called 911 while dad tended to me. I ended up having another seizure on the way to the hospital, and another while I was in the emergency department. They gave me a special IV fluid to control the seizures. I was unaware of the seizures in the ambulance and in the ED. These seizures took a lot out of my body and all my muscles tensed up causing them to be extremely sore the rest of the week.

-What makes this so much worse is that I just had a great weekend in northern Wisconsin visiting family, with no signs of anything wrong like this.

I had a CT, MRI, and is was hooked up to an EEG machine. I received a bunch of antibiotics because I had a fever. They were thinking meningitis again. They also did another lumbar puncture like last time.

I had an echocardiogram and was told it looked perfect. The doctor said I have the best heart in the hospital. The infectious disease doctor came to talk to me. He said the culture that grew is a strep bacteria from my mouth that got in my blood stream. I ended up getting a pic line put in yesterday. When I am home, my mom and I will be putting the antibiotic in the port line for 14 days.

One of the blood tests shows an infection. They are looking for a source. I finally was able to get my EEG leads off. I had a lot of antibiotics going but his regular medications are now oral. Looks like I will be staying another day. Finally at around 4pm on Friday I was able to escape the hospital and go home.

But let me tell you, as nice as it feels to be at home, it still comes with the struggles. For instance Sunday I dealt with a pretty bad headache all day and did nothing but nap all day.

Here is to hoping things start to calm down a little bit as I lead to starting treatment in a month or so.
